What is a fine art fantasy portrait you may ask? Through out history patrons of the visual arts commissioned portrait artists to render their families portrait in painting be displayed in a place of honor in their homes for all the world to see.

These classical historical portraits had their subjects sitting quietly with no movement and Little emotion. History did take a turn the 15the century when bold new artists and masters of the portrait began staging scenes with the common man playing parts in the painting themselves. These scenes told a story of human emotion and the lighting was dramatic. Master portrait painter Caravaggio is one such artist. He painted his subjects underground to tell tales of the artist and the common man who played their roles like an actor in a great dramatic movie. Other artists through out history, including myself, are still influenced by Caravaggio. I am also influenced by masters of the portrait such as Rubens, Gustav Klimt, J.W. Waterhouse, and Lord Lighten who painted the human spirit in the mystical unknown.
